Since 2011 Family Soup, Yuba City Parks and Recreation Department and Yuba City Unified School District have partnered with local businesses throughout the region to bring a very unique and life changing camp to the Yuba-Sutter region annually.
ICan Bike is a 5-day camp that teaches children, teens and young adults with disabilities how to ride a two-wheel bicycle.
ICan Bike is more than just a bike-riding program. For many children with special needs, learning to ride a bike is a seemingly impossible task that they can typically master in less than a week’s time during this camp. Within days of learning to ride, many children exhibit independent behaviors for the first time ever. This achievement, in turn, creates a gateway of opportunity, helping them gain assurance and selfreliance in many other aspects of their lives. Based on statewide averages from the Center for Disease Control, the Yuba-Sutter region has nearly 10,000 residents who live with a disability of some kind.
By becoming a donor of the iCan Bike camp, you will be giving campers immediate results with lasting effects. As an individual, you will be giving a child a chance to grow in the independence and confidence that comes from achieving the monumental goal of riding a bicycle.
This downloadable information sheet outlines donor opportunities and ways for you and your organization to get involved. Please consider sponsoring this camp, which will help change lives forever. We have a January 31 deadline for sponsorship commitments in order for your logo to be included on our promotional materials. Feel free to contact me directly with any questions you may have.
